AVBD 651PRODUCT DATA

Defender Net Barrier

M50 P2 · LESS-THAN-LETHAL ACTIVE VEHICLE BARRIER
A barrier that arrests the vehicle instead of shearing it. Crash tested at Calspan at both ends of its range — 21 ft 3½ in and 72 ft — and M50 P2 at both. Listed on the DoD Anti-Ram Vehicle Barrier List with no characteristic note against it.
ASTM F2656-15 · M50 P221′ TO 72′ SPANBI-DIRECTIONALMADE IN THE USA

THE CASE FOR A NET

STOP THE TRUCK. DON'T KILL THE DRIVER.

A net takes the impact load into synthetic ropes and energy absorbers, spreading deceleration over a longer distance. The Defender Net was crash tested at both its shortest and longest listed spans and achieved M50 P2 at both. The lane remains clear of centerline hardware when retracted. The net lies in a shallow steel road pan and deploys in under two seconds.

DIFFERENTIATOR

M50 P2 at a 21 ft span and at a 72 ft span.

The same system covers up to six undivided lanes bi-directionally without dropping a rating.

SYSTEM ANATOMY

TWO STANCHIONS. FOUR ROPES.

1

Anchor stanchions

Galvanized structural-steel weldments at each side of the opening.

2

Energy absorbers

Four each end, eight total; reusable after impact.

3

The net

Four 2" synthetic ropes at 10" spacing, cross-woven with ½" rope and abrasion-resistant jacket.

4

Road pan

Shallow steel pan flush with road surface; net rests in it when down.
