Bi-Folding Speed Gate

HIGH-THROUGHPUT VEHICLE ACCESS CONTROL
Seventy-five percent open in four seconds, fully open in seven. Clear widths to 30 ft and heights to 16 ft, on two drilled piers, with none of the run-back a slide gate needs or the swing radius a swing gate needs.

THE CASE FOR BI-FOLDING

A GATE THAT ISN'T IN YOUR WAY.

Sliding and swinging gates both want ground the site rarely has. A bi-fold asks for about eight feet either side and nothing beyond the fence line. Two short leaves move through less arc than one long one, so the lane clears sooner. The gate is 75% open in four seconds and fully open in seven seconds on cantilever systems. It is an access-control product, not a crash-rated barrier; where vehicle barrier rating is required, pair it with a BSP crash-rated barrier.

DIFFERENTIATOR

The outer leaf folds back instead of sweeping the lane.

A 30 ft clear width opens in roughly the footprint of a 15 ft swing gate, at continuous duty.

SYSTEM ANATOMY

NINE PARTS. TWO OF EACH.

1

Post Assembly

Carries the leaves and houses the drive; one drilled pier per post.

2

Leaf A inner

Driven leaf hinged to the post.

3

Leaf B outer

Folds back against Leaf A rather than sweeping the lane.

4

Geared Drive Hinge

Transfers drive into the fold.

5

Geared Non-Drive Hinge

Carries the outer leaf fold.

6

Post Hinge Bracket

Sets hinge line and transfers load to post.

7

Stretcher Arm

Maintains fold geometry.

8

Gate Operator

24 VDC brushless, ½ HP, 60:1 gearbox, continuous duty.

9

Centering Bracket

Aligns the two halves at closed position.

The Bi-Folding Speed Gate is not crash rated and BSP does not present it as one. It complies with UL 325 and UL 991 for gate/operator safety and is intended to control access and throughput. Where a crash rating is required, specify it alongside a rated vehicle barrier.
